La Vigne

Which holiday cottage should you choose?
The four holiday cottages are spread across the estate’s former farm buildings, just a few dozen metres apart. They are self-contained, each with its own entrance, outdoor space and character. The choice depends mainly on the number of guests and the atmosphere you are looking for.
La Vigne is the cosiest: a single-storey terraced house with one bedroom, underfloor heating and two terraces facing east and west, opening directly onto the forest. It’s the ideal holiday home for couples, or for families of up to four when using the sofa bed in the living room.
Le Grenier and L’Atelier each accommodate six people and are air-conditioned. Le Grenier makes the most of its height, with its exposed roof beams and spacious balcony for summer evenings; L’Atelier offers three bedrooms on one level, three queen-size beds and a large covered terrace, which is a welcome feature when the Landes sun is beating down. The two properties are adjoining: rented together under the name L’Atelier & Le Grenier, they form a 210 m² accommodation for twelve people and five bedrooms — the perfect option for family reunions and holidays with friends, where everyone has their own space whilst sharing the outdoor areas.
La Serre can also accommodate twelve people in five bedrooms, with a large private garden, central heating and a fireplace for the later months of the year. It is the only holiday cottage on the estate that is fully wheelchair accessible, from the bedroom to the bathroom.
Where is the estate located
The Domaine Darricau is situated in Aureilhan, in the Landes region, on the shores of Lake Aureilhan and set amongst fifty hectares of woodland, gardens and meadows. The centre of Mimizan is 3 km away, and the Atlantic Ocean beaches are 8 km away. So you’re right in the heart of the forest, in a peaceful setting, yet just ten minutes from the shops and the beach — a rare combination on the Landes coast, where you often have to choose between the two.
How to get here: allow about 1 hour 20 minutes from Bordeaux, 1 hour 20 minutes from Biarritz or Hossegor, 1 hour from the Dune du Pilat and 35 minutes from Biscarrosse. A car is recommended for exploring the region, although the shops in Mimizan and a bakery are just a few minutes’ walk away.
What you’ll find in each holiday cottagegîte
All the holiday cottages have been fully renovated and are equipped for a self-catering stay: a fully fitted kitchen with an oven and microwave, a washer-dryer, a television, Wi-Fi, and a private outdoor area — a terrace, balcony or garden — with barbecue facilities. End-of-stay cleaning is included, and bed linen and towels are provided: you can arrive with nothing but the clothes on your back.
Pets are welcome in all the holiday cottages, particularly dogs — please just let us know how many you have when you book. Children are welcome everywhere, and the estate offers them fifty hectares of woodland and meadows to run about in.
Around the estate
Lake Aureilhan begins at the edge of the park: supervised swimming, stand-up paddleboarding, canoeing, rowing, windsurfing and pedalos are all available on this calm stretch of water, which is ideal for families. Walking or cycling along the lake takes you to the flower-lined promenade in Mimizan and the château where the Duke of Westminster used to entertain Coco Chanel, Charlie Chaplin and Salvador Dalí.
On the coast, the beaches of Mimizan are 8 km away, whilst the wilder beach at Lespecier in Bias lies a little further on: surfing, kitesurfing, fishing, beach volleyball or simply a nap on dozens of kilometres of sand. The Landes forest, meanwhile, can be explored on horseback or by bike thanks to a dense network of cycle paths and quiet roads. In autumn, porcini mushrooms abound in the estate’s grounds, beneath the russet ferns — and the late season in the Landes has a mildness that summer lacks.

Your booking becomes confirmed upon payment of all or part of the cost of your stay. A security deposit, the amount of which is specified in the contract, is required on arrival and will be refunded within one month of your departure.
Please arrange your arrival time with us; you must check out by 10.30 am, once the property has been inspected. If you cancel more than 30 days before arrival, the 30 per cent deposit is non-refundable and the remainder will be refunded; if you cancel less than 30 days before arrival, no refund will be given.
