Our gîtes are located in old rural buildings that have been refurbished to meet your requirements for comfort and modernity. Perfectly equipped, they all have outdoor areas where you can enjoy the peace and quiet of the park and organise your meals in the open air.
La Vigne
La Vigne is a charming semi-detached house offering visitors a cosy atmosphere in the forest.

Which gîte should you choose?
The four gîtes occupy former farm buildings a few dozen metres apart across the estate. Each one is independent, with its own entrance, its own outdoor space and its own character. The choice comes down mainly to how many of you there are, and to the atmosphere you are after.
La Vigne is the most intimate: a single-storey semi-detached house with one bedroom, underfloor heating and two terraces facing east and west, opening straight onto the forest. It suits a couple, or a family of up to four using the sofa bed in the living room.
Le Grenier and L’Atelier each sleep six and are air-conditioned. Le Grenier plays on height, with its exposed roof timbers and a wide balcony for summer evenings; L’Atelier offers three ground-floor bedrooms, three Queen Size beds and a large covered terrace — welcome when the Landes sun is at its fiercest. The two adjoin: rented together as L’Atelier & le Grenier, they form a 210 m² property with five bedrooms for twelve people — the choice for family gatherings and holidays with friends, where everyone keeps their own space while sharing the outdoors.
La Serre also sleeps twelve, in five bedrooms, with a large private garden, central heating and a fireplace for the shoulder seasons. It is the only gîte on the estate that is fully wheelchair accessible, from the bedroom through to the bathroom.
Where the estate is
Domaine Darricau lies in Aureilhan, in the Landes, on the shore of Lake Aureilhan and at the heart of fifty hectares of forest, gardens and meadows. The centre of Mimizan is 3 km away, the Atlantic beaches 8 km. So you are deep in the forest and in the quiet, yet ten minutes from the shops and the sea — a rare combination on this coast, where you usually have to choose between the two.
Getting here: allow about 1 hr 20 from Bordeaux, 1 hr 20 from Biarritz or Hossegor, an hour from the Dune du Pilat and 35 minutes from Biscarrosse. A car is still recommended for exploring the region, even though the shops of Mimizan and a bakery are only a few minutes away.
What you will find in every gîte
All the gîtes have been completely renovated and are equipped for a self-catering stay: a full kitchen with oven and microwave, a washer-dryer, television, wifi, and a private outdoor space — terrace, balcony or garden — with somewhere to barbecue. End-of-stay cleaning is included and bed linen and towels are provided: you can arrive empty-handed.
Pets are welcome in all the gîtes, dogs in particular — just let us know how many when you book. Children are welcome everywhere, and the estate gives them fifty hectares of forest and meadow to run in.
Around the estate
Lake Aureilhan begins at the edge of the park: supervised swimming, paddleboarding, canoeing, rowing, windsurfing and pedalos, on calm water that is ideal for families. Follow the shore on foot or by bike and you reach Mimizan’s flower walk and the château where the Duke of Westminster entertained Coco Chanel, Charlie Chaplin and Salvador Dalí.
On the ocean side, the beaches of Mimizan are 8 km away, and the wilder Lespecier beach at Bias a little further: surfing, kitesurfing, fishing, beach volleyball, or simply a nap on tens of kilometres of sand. The Landes forest itself is best explored on horseback or by bike, thanks to a dense network of cycle paths and quiet roads. In autumn, ceps are plentiful in the estate’s own park, beneath the russet ferns — and the Landes off-season has a mildness that summer never knows.
Booking direct
Booking is done directly on this site, with no intermediary: you get the best rate, no platform commission, and you deal with us. It takes effect once all or part of the cost of the stay is paid. A security deposit, the amount of which is set out in the contract, is taken on arrival and returned within the month following departure.
Arrival time is agreed with us; departure is before 10.30 am, after the inventory check. If you cancel more than 30 days before arrival, the 30% deposit is retained and the balance refunded; less than 30 days before, no refund is possible. A question before you book?
