Automne en scène 2026: outings, resin tapping and talks around Mimizan, 17 to 29 October

2 min read

Automne en scène is back this year. From 17 to 29 October 2026, the Mimizan intercommunal tourist office is running outings, demonstrations and talks in six villages: Mimizan, Aureilhan, Bias, Mézos, Saint-Paul-en-Born and Pontenx-les-Forges. The dates almost exactly match the French All Saints’ school holidays, which start on 17 October for all three zones.

The 2026 theme: the history of this coast

This edition looks at how the area took shape and changed: the planted forest, the dune, resin tapping, the shipwrecks, the reef laid off Mimizan. In the background is a question everyone here asks, about the future of the coastline as the climate changes.

What caught our eye in the programme

  • On 21 October, an outing with the ONF, France’s national forestry office, on the forest and the Landes coast.
  • On 22 and 29 October, resin-tapping demonstrations at the Leslurgues forest house in Mimizan-Plage. A resin tapper shows how pines were cut to collect their resin, a trade that ended in France in 1990.
  • On 23 October in Saint-Paul-en-Born and 25 October in Bias, mushroom walks.
  • On 24 October, a nature outing in the wetlands of the Aureilhan lake, starting from Saint-Paul-en-Born. It is the lake the estate sits beside.
  • On 27 October, the ADREMCA association tells the story of the underwater reef installed off Mimizan in 1978, with a screening of footage filmed underwater.
  • On 28 October, a talk and screening on the Mimizan coastline, led by Claire Steimer and Sébastien Sindeu.

Two exhibitions round out the programme. From 22 to 26 October, the Chapelle à la Mer in Mimizan-Plage looks back at shipwrecks off Mimizan since the 16th century. At the Musée-Prieuré, the exhibition “À la découverte de Mauvoisin”, devoted to the painter Fernand Mauvoisin, runs from 5 to 31 October.

Before you go

Several outings have limited places and must be booked with the tourist office, which also publishes the meeting points and times. We don’t copy them here because they can change, and the tourist office keeps the up-to-date version. For the forest and the lakeside, bring shoes that can cope with damp ground.

From the estate

The estate is in Aureilhan, 3 km from Mimizan-Bourg and 8 km from the beaches, so a few minutes from every venue on the programme. Several events are in the morning or early evening, which leaves the day free for the park, where hunting is not allowed, or for the lake, about ten minutes away on foot.

For a family during the holidays, L’Atelier sleeps six, in a former resin workers’ workshop. For two families or three generations, La Serre takes up to twelve, all on one level.
